Christian Meditation

I realised during the stress of my undergraduate degree, that we all need an outlet to help us escape from the hustle and bustle of the world that surrounds us. I was always interested in how people use Mindfulness to help them take time out but I never really knew how I could use it as a teacher in my class. I completed a course on Mindfulness in college which helped me gain more insight about the challenge to help people become mindful in such a state of flux.

It was not until I started teaching in my current school, that I got to experience the true benefits that Christian Meditation can offer. My school currently offers a certain time twice a week where music is played to relax the students. Students and staff then meditate for a certain amount of time roughly ten minutes. Then as each week passes, we aim to develop the amount of time that each class meditates for. Initially, I was not sure about my students meditating. However, I was surprised at the effect that meditation can have on students. It takes the students a while to get relaxed, but once they engage with meditation they immediately become more relaxed. It changes the atmosphere in the classroom and it seems to help unburden the students. I think teaching students to meditate at such a young age helps students to develop a personal relationship with Jesus, which is peaceful. My class has definitely settled down since we started weekly meditation.
