Kidblog

As part my Masters, I had to set up a blog for students this week. To set up a Kidblog account teachers assume the role of administrator and set up student accounts for the students. Kidblog is built by teachers, for teachers, so students can get the most out of the blogging process. It helps create a safe environment for teachers and students to blog. It appears to me that this blog is more about the writing of the blog than anything else. It is easy and accessible for students, so that they can easily publish posts and participate in discussions with their class. Teachers maintain complete control over their students’ blogs and user accounts. Safety is a priority. It has a clutter-free design and has a completely ad-free design which I think is beneficial as students can be distracted quite easily.

Kidblog appears to be a very user friendly blogging platform, where safety is the top priority. I found it very easy  to set up and their website is extremely helpful. I am still quite new to it, but it seems like a very useful educational tools. Kidblog has a strong social media presence, with a support blog, Twitter feed, and Google+ page. It lets students create their own platform to blog on. Students become creators, not just consumers of information which helps them engage with topics more.

Kidblog allows teachers and students to do many things over its blogging platform. Students can publish their writing, audio, visual, or video projects. As a teacher, you can also create a class blog as a way to communicate with parents and Include information about daily happenings in the classroom, upcoming deadlines, and learning tips for students.
